I tend to be impulsive. Its a part of my personality that I’ve always struggled with. And it often causes me to be quick to jump to conclusions.
Especially when God goes quiet.
Time seems to stand still and my prayers appear to get lost somewhere between heaven and earth.
I start thinking that God isn’t listening. He doesn’t care. What’s weighing heavy on my heart isn’t important, so I’ve been pushed aside while He’s off answering other people’s prayers.
I think, of course He’s moving. Its just not in MY life.
I start believing I’ve reached a dead end, that this is just the way it will always be. I put a period at the end of my hope, the end of my dream, the end of my faith.
And yet, so many times when I don’t feel God working, when everything is still, when it seems as if God has just simply said “no”, that’s actually not the case at all.
He is simply waiting.
Waiting until the circumstances are right, until the timing is right.
I want it right in this very moment.
But God wants it the right moment, the moment its supposed to be.
I want what I want and I want it right now.
But God wants what is best and He wants it to be perfect.

Tonight, as I lie awake in the quiet stillness, I am reminded to not jump to conclusions and get God’s comma mixed up for a period. While I am pausing, while I am waiting, I will keep trusting, keep hoping, and keep believing.
Because in the end, it will be worth the wait.
Even in the pause, even with the commas in my life, God is still there working out all the things for good and for His glory.
And I know that when it is all said and done, the only thing my heart will want to say is –
“Thank you, God”.
